laughter

Laughter and joy in the house!

Patience has to be one of the most sought after virtue during the month of Ramadhan. However, having a sense of humour is equally important during this trial month of facing hunger, thirst and heat. I am reminding myself on the need to remain 'CHILLED' during this holy month.

I don't know where my kids got their sense of humour from but seriously I do appreciate it very much. If I have to name my boys after the Mr. Men series, Funboy has to be Mr. Comic, Syam is Mr. Impersonator, Marshmallow Boy is Mr. Giggles while me and Fejj have to be the audience. Everyday coming back from school or at night. there is some antics about them that made us laugh and adore them more. It is either something they watch on TV or on Youtube.

Syam enjoys watching the Chasers' War on Everything series. He was sharing with me one of the snippets from the programme here.

Poor Funboy! What a way to greet the holy month, he is infected with Chicken pox. So, he will be out of school for two weeks. I appreciate his sense of resilience as he took to the sickness quite well and try to endure as much as he can. So, everyone in the family are doing their best to cheer him up. Last night, I was surprised to see the television on and he was not sleeping. He told me that he was having a bad dream about a gnome in the garden. I knew where this story came from. He was watching with his siblings, a snippet on Youtube about a gnome in Italy that was discovered walking alive at night. hahaaa. But the funny part was when Funboy was relating to me about the gnome. "You know dad!! Gnome! G.N.O.M.E"! hahaaa I don't know why he spelt it out to me. I guess he thought I may not know the word. I see him being thoughtful in spelling it out to me as he wanted to ensure that I understand what he was referring to. I did understand but can't help laughing with his funny antic on the spelling part!

Last night too, after teraweh prayers, Fejj requested that I take them to McDonalds. I thought he would want to take away the food but Fejj insisted that we ate there. I asked him to call home to find out what Funboy would like to eat due to him being quarantined and not able to go out till the infection was over. I did not know if Funboy realised where we were or he was just acting comically! He told Fejj, ' Get me nasi katok please!". Hahaaaa. We all laughed at Funboy's response as we all knew there was no such item on McDonalds' menu.

As part of teaching my kids to be more independent and responsible, I wanted them to learn to wake themselves up for eating sahur. I know they survived without me last year and I am sure they can do it again this year, rather than having me banging on their bedroom doors early in the morning. Marshmallow Boy told me of his idea on how to ensure they would wake up for sahur. He said, ' Will play a Heavy Metal song'!. My initial respond was thinking what was wrong with my son thinking about listening to rock music at the wee hours during Ramadhan. But I couldn't help laughing when he told me.. 'you know rock music will sure wake you up at that early hours! hahaaaa...

kids....these days!

The kids are wishing that you would not face situation like this during terawih prayers. For those fasting, if someone is trying to pick an argument with you.. politely remind them that you are fasting and walk away.

Happy fasting!

I think i will agree with Marshmellow Boy..listening to rock heavy metal in the wee hours huhu...will also ensure mothers are awake to serve food at sahur time...shall we listen to Cold Play or Led Zepplin ?? =)
