Last Sunday, I must have accidentally hurt my back while lifting the teakwood table in my living room. I felt doing a bit of re-decorating. I didn't feel any pain till the next Monday morning at work. While sitting down in the office, I suddenly felt a sharp unbearable pain in my back and had difficulty breathing. I thought I better see a doctor.
Instead of going to the clinic, I decided to visit Dr Danish at the Sports Medicine and Research Centre, at the National Stadium in Berakas. I know he is a busy man, especially with the coming football meet this weekend. But I decided to give my luck a try. He's available and willing to see me.. yeah!!
This is not my first time meeting him as I did had suffered some sports injuires before and I found him to be the best doctor when comes to sports medicine and related injuries. After the consultation, he found out that my back muscle must have impinged on a nerve and that had caused the pain. So, muscle relaxants and some physiotherapy were recommended for me. He told me, I would be okay in two days time.. Another yeah! I felt much relieved.
Therefore, if you happen to encounter some injuries related to sports (well, can u say lifting coffee-table, a sport? hahaaa), I would recommend you to see Dr Danish as he is a specialist in this field. Of course, you must know your body better. I mean if you had any fractures, then it's a different case, RIPAS A & E will be the better option.
After coming home from the consultation, I didn't stop thinking about my back. I got the medicine but my mind was on someone else. Yes, my yoga guru, Danura.
I did the downward dog, the plank and other yoga poses and I found it such a relief. So, I decided to give her a call, seeking advise on how to heal my back through some yoga poses. She told me that she would be conducting a "FLOW" class later in the day and I thought I would give it a try to see if it could relieve the pain and relax the stiff muscles.
It was a sweat workout. Although some of the poses were challenging, I took my time on the moving from one pose to another but found the workout, good for my back. The pain subsided and I felt good again.
It was a good bargain on my part, although I know I shouldn't have exert myself in doing the workout. But I guess I know my body better and how much I can exert myself. In the end, it paid well.
Now, I feel much better and roaring to go!
p/s Before I go, I just remembered that while at the Stadium, I felt nostalgic about the place as it was the 'in-place' for me, a decade ago. It was my circuit training place that I used to hang out 3 times a week with our instructor, Sam. It was the only men workout group that existed at that time. It was a good group consist of lawyers, doctors, expatriates and other professions and we were passionate about the group workout. I used to assist Sam in doing the warm-ups sessions for the class and did relieve classes for Sam, while he was away. Oh Well! Those were the good old days. I guess everyone had moved on!

Mr Pablo & in sher's shoes,
How do we go about in contacting Dr Danish? Or do we have to be a registered athlete?
Sher.. what a small world indeed? I love the fact that you are sporty too.. with silat and such. I agree with you about the panadol and wintegeno..Not going to dabble much on that..hahaaa.. A doctor from Hawaii told me.. Wintergeno's effect is nothing but like a toothpaste.. Effect is minimal...hahaha
Anonymous.. Just head to the Sports and Medicine Research Center at the National Stadium..opposite the Tennis Center and ask for an appointment with Dr Danish. I don't think u need to be an national athlete.. but if they ask.. just say you have the potential to be a national athlete.hehee.. Good luck!
haha. oh yeah i forgot pasal wintergeno atu. lol. i agree with u though wintergeno is no good. it eases the pain skajap saja. longer time baik lah i suppose.
anon: like pablo said, cuba saja go to the place. i honestly dont know how it works now. but i'm sure they say that its not for public anymore just to avoid crowds since di hospital ripas selalu kehabisan stock panadol. hehe.
pablo: haha. potential national athlete! haha. nice! i could just imagine..
