The reasons you should do yoga

Yoga seems to be the in-thing these days. If you haven't catch it...I recommend you do. Much have been written in the papers and many books written about it. I've just started doing it for the past 3 months and I think this is the one for me. Really enjoyed it and makes me wana learn more about it...rather than just joining classes and doing the asanas ( poses).
I just bought my first book on yoga.. Sivananda begginer's guide to yoga since I became more inquisitive on the practice that I have been doing since.

For beginners, the benefits of yoga are mostly felt as mechanical changes in joints and muscles, increased blood circulation, temperature changes and improved control of nervous system. According to yogic teaching, they will start to experience on a mental level as well as physical level, if the exercises are continued.

1. Stress management
It was interesting to read that yoga exercises reduce the over-stimulation of the symphathetic nervous system and activate the 'rest and repair' of the nervous system. In laymen's terms, daily practice is a guaranteed protection against stress. Stress caused our heartbeat to go faster, digestion to slow down.... but with yoga exercises, it will counter act and allow you to be more relaxed.

The yoga approach to stress management is to create a stress-free experience every time we practise yoga. It also develop our awareness of any physical or mental habits that may be allowing unnecessary stress, whether unhealthy eating, negative thinking or simply not allowing any 'unwinding' time for yourself.

2. Improve your senses
Many yoga exercises will improve the vitality and proper functioning of the senses such as the sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell.

3. Better breathing for better body system
The controlled breathing technique and posture movements will encourage relaxation.

4. Good for the complexion
When we are stressed, blood and oxygen are shunted from skin to other more vital organs. A calm mind and body, according to Dr. Diane Berson from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, are essential for healthier skin.

The other motivation is that you will get to be on Danura's Star people.

I hope I have convinced you enough.. hehee
